From Newsweek: Evangelical leader Russell Moore said that he saw Christianity in “crisis” because the teachings of Jesus were being viewed by a growing number of people as “subversive” to their right-wing ideology. The idea of “turning the other cheek” and other teachings of Jesus are being rejected as “liberal talking points.” Theologians described it as a rift within the conservative Christian faith that had come to be defined by support for djt.

After Dr. Seuss died, his widow lived on a series of cruise ships.
She delighted in calling elementary schools upon request and reciting her husband’s books over their PA systems. She did that for me once when I, as school librarian dressed as a Seuss character, led a birthday celebration for Dr. Seuss’ birthday after he had passed.
Hearing her recite GREEN EGGS AND HAM with adaptations for my school over the PA system may be the best teaching moment I ever had. In fact, I retired right after that. I figured that was going to be the highlight of my career and I wanted to move on while it felt so good.
Moral of the story? Be really nice to school secretaries…..one might be a former cruise director who was Mrs. Seuss’ best friend….one who would call in a favor to get a school wide PA recitation for the kids you love…
WOW. I have not thought about city chicken in years. I only got to try it a few times. I remember liking it, but being confused by the concept. My mother explained it as something people ate with very cheap meat during the Depression.
