Welcome to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. Cheers to all of us thieves!
This week our inspiration is Life of a Fool. This blogger maintains this meme has “been seen everywhere.” The questions only require a simple, definitive answer, but if you’d like to elaborate, we’d like to hear what you have to say.
Four Superlatives -Sunday Stealing Goes to Extremes
Is there another musical prompt here besides “I Go to Extremes” by Billy Joel?
1. Your MOST overused word or phrase: I asked my wife, and she said, Contraindicated. While it is generally applied to medical situations – “taking that medication is contraindicated” – I recall some politician or bureaucrat using the term about a policy consideration, but I don’t remember who.
Apparently, I’ve been known to say, “apropos of nothing” as a transition to another topic of conversation.
I’m also fond of irregardless, mostly for fun; my wife taught English as a new language. Some folks rant that it’s not a word when clearly it is. It may be nonstandard, but that’s a different thing.
Money
2. Your BIGGEST expense: Well, the house. There are a lot of things we would like to take care of in the next few years. I never owned a house until I got married in 1999; I had been a renter for decades, and it took some getting used to.
Aside from that, possibly this blog. The ten-year package I agreed to ends in early 2027, and the next agreement, per their pricing package, will be for only three years, with a far greater annual cost. It’s the price of fame, I suppose.
BTW, my wife’s car will be paid off this calendar year.
3. Your WORST fear: I alluded to it recently: that the United States is not upholding its own Constitution. Congress is inert, the executive branch is grossly overreaching, and the judiciary is disappointing. And if not that, the climate extremes. Or AI extremes. Or…
4. Your BEST memory of Summer 26: It’s probably going to New York City with my wife, and seeing Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway.
NYCNY– Daryl Hall.
Thank you for playing! Please come back next week.
I’ve never been to New York and I want to visit and see a Broadway play. Maybe in 2027!
I have never heard o fthe word you described in #1. “Irregardless” is a word I have heard of on the other hand.
#2 – Ah the house. We have paid off the mortgage BUT Mrs PM wants a new kitchen soon so that will be a bigger expense.
#3 – There are a lot of fears (as I wrote) but climate change is a BIG one that people seem to be totally ignoring. We had five heatwaves in the UK this year and that is unprecedented. As for AI – I am not as scared of that but I am thinking of dipping my toe into that ocean next year if I can bring myself to start thinking about my old day job again.
:o)
Cheers
PM
That is great you will have your wife’s car paid off soon. We just got mine about a year and a half ago, so we have some time. We do have our house paid off though. Loved your answers! Have a great day.

Irregardless, haha, I understand. My dad used to mispronounce aluminum as “al-yew-MIN-ium,” just to get Mom’s goat.
I had the soundtrack to Buena Vista years ago; my appreciation for Ry Cooder is immense.
I have used blogger successfully for 20 years w/o paying for anything. In case you decide you want to go that route. Just be sure to back up what you have here first.
