Four Superlatives -Sunday Stealing Goes to Extremes
Is there another musical prompt here besides “I Go to Extremes” by Billy Joel?
1. Your MOST overused word or phrase: I asked my wife, and she said, Contraindicated. While it is generally applied to medical situations – “taking that medication is contraindicated” – I recall some politician or bureaucrat using the term about a policy consideration, but I don’t remember who.
Apparently, I’ve been known to say, “apropos of nothing” as a transition to another topic of conversation.
I’m also fond of irregardless, mostly for fun; my wife taught English as a new language. Some folks rant that it’s not a word when clearly it is. It may be nonstandard, but that’s a different thing.

2. Your BIGGEST expense: Well, the house. There are a lot of things we would like to take care of in the next few years. I never owned a house until I got married in 1999; I had been a renter for decades, and it took some getting used to.
Aside from that, possibly this blog. The ten-year package I agreed to ends in early 2027, and the next agreement, per their pricing package, will be for only three years, with a far greater annual cost. It’s the price of fame, I suppose.
BTW, my wife’s car will be paid off this calendar year.
3. Your WORST fear: I alluded to it recently: that the United States is not upholding its own Constitution. Congress is inert, the executive branch is grossly overreaching, and the judiciary is disappointing. And if not that, the climate extremes. Or AI extremes. Or…
4. Your BEST memory of Summer 26: It’s probably going to New York City with my wife, and seeing Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway.
