Minimalist memes

My wife knew something about what I wrote in this post, so, initially, I thought I’d already posted it. Then I realized that she probably saw it in draft form, since almost never reads the actual blog.

The first one from Jaquandor and SamuraiFrog puts me into the spirit of Fiddler on the Roof, specifically If I Were A Rich Man.

If I were a month, I’d be March.
If I were a day of the week, I’d be Sunday.
If I were a time of day, I’d be 10 a.m.
If I were a planet, I’d be Neptune.
If I were a sea animal, I’d be a dolphin.
If I were a direction, I’d be northeast.
If I were a piece of furniture, I’d be an ottoman.
If I were a liquid, I’d be the spring water.
If I were a gemstone, I’d be aquamarine.
If I were a tree, I’d be an oak.
If I were a tool, I’d be a screwdriver.
If I were a flower, I’d be a lily of the valley.
If I were a kind of weather, I would be misty.
If I were a musical instrument, I’d be a pipe organ.
If I were a color, I’d be green, inevitably.
If I were an emotion, I’d be melancholy.
If I were a fruit, I’d be a pink grapefruit.
If I were a sound, I’d be the white noise from a fan on a hot, summer day.
If I were an element, I’d be one of those always looking for an electron, like sodium.
If I were a car, I’d be an Aston Martin. Nah, I’d be a 10-year-old non-descript mid-sized American car, probably a Ford.
If I were a food, I’d be spinach lasagna.
If I were a place, I’d be Xanadu.
If I were a material, I’d be the stuff of a down comforter.
If I were a taste, I’d be spearmint.
If I were a scent, I’d be the scent of baking bread.
If I were an object, I’d be a reference book.
If I were a body part, I’d be the heart.
If I were a facial expression, it would be puzzled.
If I were a song, I’d be Take Five.
If I were a pair of shoes, I would be a pair of red Chuck Taylor sneakers.

USING ONLY ONE WORD. Probably from Sarah Kim. My wife knew something about what I wrote in this post, so, initially, I thought I’d already posted it. Then I realized that she probably saw it in draft form since almost never reads the actual blog.

I'm a librarian. I hear music, even when it's not being played. I used to work at a comic book store, and it still informs my life. I won once on JEOPARDY! - ditto.

  1. As I have gotten to know you with reading your blog these years, I think some of these are what I would choose for you as well. Except the puzzled facial expression. I see you more as contemplative then puzzled.
